1. Thai Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City presided over the Buddhist Lent Day ceremony in Baria-Vung Tau Province
On July 26, 2015 Ms. Panpimon Suwannapongse, Thai Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, presided over the Buddhist Lent Day ceremony at Hue Hung Temple in Baria-Vung Tau Province. Around 100 Thai and Vietnamese Buddhists also attended the aforesaid ceremony.
Hue Hung temple is a Vietnamese temple where the Thai Dhammaduta, a Buddhist missionary, has stayed in order to propagate Buddhism in the Southern part of Vietnam. Hue Hung Temple received well-support from the Thai and Vietnamese Buddhists in Baria-Vung Tau Province and surrounded area. Hence, the Temple has been able to organize Buddhist ceremony that attracts hundreds of people every year.
2. Thai Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City attended the ceremony of “Sharing the Dream 2015”
On July 23, 2015, Ms. Panpimon Suwannapongse, the Thai Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, attended “Sharing the Dream 2015” event - the scholarship awards ceremony for Vietnamese disadvantaged students -organized by the SCG in Dong Nai Province. This year 400 students were awarded the scholarships.
Sharing the Dream, a programme aiming to provide more educational opportunities for Vietnamese disadvantaged students, has been organized by the SCG for 9 consecutive years since its inception in 2007. It is noteworthy that Sharing the Dream was first established in Vietnam before expansion to other ASEAN Member States including Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippine
