On Friday, 27 March 2015, at 11.00 hrs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, presided over the ceremony to hand over the Ministry’s contribution in the amount of 300,000 Baht to support the “Maulid Nabi Celebration A.H. 1436” to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, President of the Moulid Nabi Celebration Organizing Committee. The handover ceremony were attended by a number of high-ranking officials of the Ministry, namely Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Director-General of the Department of South Asia, Middle East, and Africa Affairs, and Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, as well as members of the Organizing Committee, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Preeyakorn, Mr. Khumpy Ditthagorn, Mr. Manat Seubsantikul, and Mr. Pratya Chimwiset.
On this occasion, the Deputy Permanent Secretary reiterated the importance the Ministry attaches to Islamic affairs and the Muslim Thai community, such as its support for the Haj affairs, education of Muslim Thai youths, and welfare and activities of Muslim Thai students abroad, as well as Islamic economic activities and Halal industry.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for the continued support of the Ministry for Islamic affairs. He also affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in all areas of Islamic affairs.
Maulid Nabi Celebration in Thailand has its first inception since 1961. The Celebration is an annual event to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, and to laud and recall his preaching and practices. This year, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn representing His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the Maulid Nabi Celebration on Sunday, 8 March 2015 at the Golden Jubilee of Islamic Affairs National Administration Center, Bangkok.
