General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015 on 28 March 2015 at Boao City, Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China. This year, the Conference will be held under the theme “Asia’s New Future: Towards a Community of Common Destiny”. President Xi Jinping of China as well as the President of Indonesia, the President of Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia will also be in attendance.
During the Conference, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will co-chair the discussion entitled “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road: A Conversation with Leaders” with Mr. Yang Jiechi, State Councilor, as well as participate in the opening ceremony of China – ASEAN Maritime Cooperation Year.
The Boao Forum for Asia was first held in 2001 as a joint proposal from Mr. Fidel Ramos, then-President of the Phillippines, Mr. Bob Hawke, then-Prime Minister of Australia, and Mr. Morihiro Hosokawa, then-Prime Minister of Japan to Mr. Hu Jintao, then-Deputy President of China. The Boao Forum for Asia is a forum for Asian countries to discuss various aspects of cooperation in realizing their development goals. Thailand is one among the founding members of the Forum.
