Launching of Muay Thai Mexico-Tailandia Association At the Royal Thai Embassy, Mexico City

            On 25 February 2015, the Muay Thai Mexico-Tailandia (MTMT) association introduced itself to the Mexican boxing community by holding an Inaugural Reception at the Royal Thai Embassy, Mexico City. The reception was hosted by MTMT with support from The Royal Thai Embassy, the World Boxing Council (WBC), and WBC Muay Thai. 
 
            Ambassador Surasak Chusukonthip congratulated MTMT for its establishment which will help promote the practice of Muay Thai in a more organized manner, taking into consideration the spiritual aspects and safety. He stressed that in order for Muay Thai to be even more successful, MTMT must exist as a unifying force for all the Muay Thai schools and teaching centers and that its standards should be high in order to maintain a high level of support from the Embassy, the WBC, the WBC Muay Thai, and the general public in Mexico and Latin America.
 
            Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) expressed his personal support and that of the WBC for Muay Thai, a sport that his late father, former WBC President Don Jose Sulaiman, held close to heart. Mr. Don Jose Sulaiman has had the honor to have many private audiences with His Majesty the King of Thailand who entrusted WBC with the promotion of Muay Thai. Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman further expressed his appreciation for the Embassy’s support of Muay Thai in Mexico in establishing an organized and unified body. He also took this occasion to announce that he would begin to introduce Muay Thai at all WBC events held in Mexico and pledged close cooperation with the Embassy and MTMT.
 
            Mr. Srichai Pangsri, President of MTMT underlined the organization's desire to promote the art of Muay Thai in Mexico. Muay Thai is not only a martial art but an integral part of the Thai way of life. He announced his intention to work closely with all Muay Thai schools and teaching centers to ensure that Muay Thai is more widely known, understood and practiced in Mexico, in an environment of close cooperation and harmony between the students, teachers and centers.
 
            Muay Thai master Dej Sriampai, Representative of the WBC Muay Thai in USA and Latin America, conveyed the message of General Kovit Bhakdibhumi, President of WBC Muay Thai in congratulating the establishment of the MTMT. General Kovit expressed his full support of MTMT and the promotion of Muay Thai in Mexico.
