Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow promotes Thai economic interests within the framework of the Meetings of Sub Committees on Trade and Economic Cooperation and on Agriculture

            On November 25, 2014, H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbunjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation hosted dinner in honour of      H.E. Ms. Apiradee Tantraporn, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Mr. Wimol Jantrarotai, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Agriculture and Co-opereatives who were the Heads of Thai delegation at the Meetings of Sub-Committees on Trade and Economic Cooperation (November 26 - 27, 2014), as well as on Agriculture (November 27, 2014) respectively. The Meetings’ main objective was to prepare for the upcoming 6th Thailand- Russia Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation which will be hosted by Thailand next year.
 
            The Thai delegation succeeded in pushing forwards the Thai interests in Russia through the said vital mechanisms where the cooperation of all areas on economics, trade, investment and tourism were discussed. 
  
            The Meeting of the Sub Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation was co - chaired by the Thai Deputy Minister of Commerce and H.E. Mr. Alexey Likhachev Russian, Deputy Minister of Economic Development. Besides reiterating the importance to achieve the target for the Thai - Russian trade volumes to be doubled by 2016, the two sides recommended the scheme to reduce the obstacles for the market access of Thai products in Russia, as well as to promote and intensify cooperation on broader fields of industry, energy, tourism and other related projects.
 
            The Meeting of the Sub Committee on Agriculture that was co - chaired by the Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Agriculture and Co-operatives and Mr. Ilya Shestakov, Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture reviewed past achievements and discussed agreements, exchange of information, technical cooperation projects, as well as prepared for the 2nd Sub-Commission to be held in the near future.
 
            During the visit, the delegation from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with its counterparts from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss about the bilateral relations, development on Eurasian economic integration and the progress on the new series of the Thai - Russian historical archives. The Thai delegation also had the meeting with the high - ranking officials of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Besides initiating the contacts among each other, the meeting was the ways forward for the two sides to explore opportunities on future constructive cooperation, especially after the Eurasian Customs Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia) has entered into its significant phase of economic integration as Eurasian Economic Union from January 1, 2015.
