The Remembrance Ceremony “Ten Years on: Remembering the Indian Ocean Tsunami”

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

The Remembrance Ceremony " Ten Years on: Remembering the Indian Ocean Tsunami” will be held on 26 December 2014 at the Police Boat T813 Tsunami Memorial, Takua Pa District, Phang-nga Province

2. ACCREDITATION

Members of the media who wish to cover the meetings are required to be accredited and in possession of a media badge. Media are kindly requested to fill in the Registration Form and submit it together with a copy representatives of the Press ID Card issued by the Public Relations Department, Office of the Prime Ministers or employed agency by 20 December 2014 via e-mail: [email protected] or by fax + 66 2 643 5106 -7

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reserves the right to approve the request and will inform he approved members of the press individually. Approved members of the press can collect the badge for News coverage at the Media Registration Counter, located at the Police Boat T813 Tsunami Memorial Site on 25 December 2014 from 10.00 hrs. onwards until 16.00 hrs of 26 December 2014

Interested media are requested to go through the camera inspection process at entrance of the site  one and a half hour prior to the event start and kindly be informed to bring the press ID card along.

3. FACILITIES

  3.1    2 Camera Stands will be available for video and camera purpose at the Police Boat T813 Tsunami Memorial.

  3.2    The Media Center and Working Room is located at entrance of the Police Boat T813 Tsunami Memorial. PCs with internet connection, LAN cable outlets and free Wi-Fi internet (speed of 50 MB) access are available at the work station area in the Media Centre.

Additional Media Working Room is located at Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Villas, Takua Pa District.

Operating Hours of both Media Center and Working Rooms: 

25 December 2014 from 12.00 - 19.00 hrs.

26 December 2014 from 09.00 - 24.00 hrs.

  3.3    International Broadcasting Centre (IBC)

National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) Channel  or Channel 11has been officially designated as the Host Broadcaster of the Remembrance Ceremony “Ten Years on: Remembering the Indian Ocean Tsunami” to provide international quality coverage of the ceremony of this event to all media members.

TP Frequency 4148  MHz Symbol Rate 4688  FEC ¾ (mono audio)

Dropout Area (10 HD-SDI, 5 SD-SDI embedded audio), located at the Memorial site adjacent to Media Center.

Interested media are responsible to obtain power supply for their own Outside Broadcasting (OB)Van. OB parking in front of broadcasting center is limited and on first come first serve basis. Those interested media is allowed to reserve the parking space from 26 December, 14.00 hrs. and beyond.

Note: Additional requests beyond the above-mentioned facilities must be made in advance and depend on the limited availability.

4. OTHER INFORMATION

Visa

All media representatives must be in possession of valid visas and passports for entry into Thailand.  Please enquire at the overseas Missions and Embassies of Thailand in your respective countries. Information on visa requirements is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at

Customs Clearance Requirements

All media representatives are required to carry a detailed list of their equipments including the type, serial numbers, and quantity of the items including radio communication equipment and the frequency bands.

Applicants should inform a list of equipment with the Media Accreditation Application Form.

Temporary importation of equipment is allowed subject to Customs approval. The list of equipment must be produced on arrival at Phuket International Airport/ Suvarnabhumi  International Airport.

Dress Code

Media representatives should wear proper attire while covering the events. Shirt/ Lady covered skirt and heel covered shoes is advisable. Please avoid tank-tops, shorts, slippers and sandals.

Transportation

A free shuttle service with limited number of seats will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis for media pool coverage of the official programme from Pullman Hotel to the Remembrance Ceremony on 26 December 2014 and site visit on 27 December 2014.

Local Taxis are available at most hotels, shopping centres and the airport. Self-drive cars are available for hire from major hotels and the airport.

Airport Arrivals and Departures of Heads of Delegation

Due to security reason, media coverage of arrivals and departures of Heads of Delegation in the restricted zones at Phuket International Airport is limited to the host media and the official media of the arriving/departing delegation only.
