On 19 November 2014, Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai hosted a reception to welcome a delegation of German businessmen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Mrs. Nongnuch Pecharach, Thai Ambassador to Germany, and H.E. Mr. Rolf Peter Gottfried Sculze, German Ambassador to Thailand, also attended the reception.

The German business delegation consisted of approximately twenty prominent executives from German companies such as Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Ltd., BMW AG., B.Grimm & Co. Limited, Stiefel Eltron Asia Limited, and STRABAG Industries (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The Business Information Center under the Department of International Economic Affairs also took the opportunity to invite Thai businessmen of relevant sectors to join the reception and network with the German businesses.    

At the reception, the Deputy Foreign Minister stated that it was an excellent opportunity for the Thai and German businessmen to get acquainted with each other and strengthen business relations in order to boost two-way trade and cooperation. German businessmen should explore potential collaboration with Thailand in the fields of alternative energy and vocational training. The Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon plans of the government to upgrade the country’s infrastructure and welcome German businesses to participate in various projects.

Earlier on 18 November 2014, the group of German businessmen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha to learn the country’s way forward and current economic policies.  On this occasion, the German business delegation has expressed their appreciation and confidence in the Thai government, particularly its economic development plan.
