On 6 November 2014, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, in collaboration with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Thai Student Association of Guangdong Province, organized the “Loy Krathong Festival 2014” at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Baiyun Campus.

 

            The aim of this event is to promote general public’s acknowledgement (both Chinese and other foreign nationals in Guangdong Province) of Loy Krathong Festival and Thai cultures. This year’s Festival saw attendance figures of around 500 people including university vice-chancellor, lecturers, university students, Heads of Team Thailand offices in Guangzhou, general public from Thai, Chinese, foreign communities and media in Guangzhou.

 

            Various activities in the festival include Thai costumes fashion show, cultural performances by Thai and Chinese students, Quiz and Games, Exhibition on history of Loy Krathong, Krathong making demonstration, Krathong Making competiton, selling of Thai products by entrepreneurs, selling of Thai food, desserts, and drinks by Thai and Chinese students, as well as Nang Noppamas procession and Krathong floating.
