On 23 October 2014, Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Sweden, and the Embassy’s officials attended a merit-making ceremony at Chulalongkorn’s Memorial Pavilion in Ragunda to commemorate King Chulalongkorn Day.

Mrs. Terese Bengard, Mayor of Ragunda, Thai community in Sweden and Swedish people also attended the ceremony. After merit-making activities, Mr. Pitchit paid homage to His Majesty King Chulalongkorn who paid a state visit to Sweden and further to Ragunda in 1897. The visit laid a foundation to the bond of friendship and close cooperation between Thailand and Sweden until today. Mrs. Terese expressed gratitude to the Thai side for organizing a commemorative event at Chulalongkorn’s Memorial Pavillion every October and noted that Chulalongkorn’s Memorial Pavillion is a unique place for Sweden and Ragunda, thus hoping for more cooperation between both countries to develop the surrounding area in the near future.
