Thailand, along with the Republic of China, New Zealand, and the United States of America will be co-chairing the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Training Course on Preventive Diplomacy, to be held in Beijing and Nanjing on 13-19 October 2014.

         Launched in 1994, the ARF is the primary forum for political-security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. The ARF Training Course on Preventive Diplomacy is an important activity that will contribute toward moving the ARF from the initial confidence-building stage to the preventive diplomacy stage.

          Mid-career diplomats and defense officials participating in the course will have the opportunity to discuss topics that include “Development of ASEAN Preventive Diplomacy Cooperation and the ASEAN Way (presented by Thailand)”, “Conflict Resolution in Asia and the Role of China”, and “Asian Security Concept and Preventive Diplomacy”.
