Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 29th ASEAN-Japan Forum held on 3rd and 4th September 2014, in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting focused on the partnership of Japan in four areas: Peace and Security, Prosperity, Welfare and Alliances 

 

The meeting also pointed out the significance of the establishment of peace and security, as well as efforts in solving controversial issues to ensure the safety of people in the region. Member countries have agreed to support the economic forum, increasing intra-investment and to promote tourism in each others' countries. 

 

The meeting also reviewed cooperation between ASEAN and Japan over the past year, particularly the substantial progress in the implementation of the ASEAN-Japan Plan of Action (2011-2015) and the implementation of the Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, adopted by ASEAN and Japanese Leaders at the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit held on 14th December 2013 in Tokyo, to mark the 40th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations. 

 

The Meeting also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
