While Thailand welcomes the announcement of an open-ended ceasefire for Gaza, brokered under Egyptian auspices, Thailand shares the international community’s profound concern over the devastating impact of the conflict on innocent civilians, especially women and children, in the past two months. As a responsible member of the international community and in line with our longstanding humanitarian tradition, Thailand believes that it is our duty to respond to the emergency flash appeal of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and decides to pledge a contribution of 100,000 USD in order to address the most pressing humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza. We hope that it will help alleviate their suffering.

Thailand has repeatedly and consistently called on all sides to the conflict in the Middle East to exert maximum efforts toward a peaceful and durable solution to the conflict. Now more than ever, we are sorely reminded that such a solution can and must be achieved only through peaceful negotiations. We will continue to urge and plead with all sides to the conflict to return to the negotiating table, for their children’s better future, living side by side in peace and security.
