Thai Ambassador to Brazil called on Minister of Defense of Brazil

       On 20 August 2014, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Thai Ambassador to Brazil had a courtesy call on  H.E. Mr. Celso Amorim, Minister of Defense at the Ministry of Defense of Brazil. General Gerson Menadro Garcia De Frietas, Chief of General Staff for Strategy Affairs of the Joint Armed Forces, Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Hak Neto, Special Advisor to the Defense Minister, Colonel Julsri Buranasamriddhi, Thai Defense Attache’, and Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy also attended the said occasion.

       Ambassador Charnbhumidol stated  the cordial military relations and progress between Thailand and Brazil.  During past several years, Thailand purchased 4 VIP transportation planes from Embraer company of Brazil and two Chiefs of Defense Forces of Thailand each  made together three visits to  Brazil during 2007 – 2011.  In this regard, Ambassador Charnbhumidol extended an invitation to Minister Amorim as well as high ranking officers of the Ministry of Defense to visit Thailand, especially to attend the  ASEAN Defense  and Security Exhibition  which will be organized by  Ministry of Defense of Thailand in 2015. Minister Amorim positively responded to visit to Thailand after the general elections in Brazil in October 2014.

        Ambassador Charnbhumidol  also informed Minister Amorim on the present political situation in Thailand after May 2017 when the Thai military took over the national administration. Ambassador also reassured Minister Amorim that Thailand has progressively moved forward on reconciliation process and towards full-fledged democracy as there will be a free and fair election by October 2015 to prepare Thailand for effectively becoming part of ASEAN Community by the end of 2015.
