On 19 August 2014, Mr. Narong Sasitorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of FELAC Showcase at Eden 1 zone of Central World. The ceremony was attended by representatives from member countries of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) and diplomatic corps in Thailand.

FEALAC Showcase is one of the side events of the 15th FEALAC Senior Officials Meeting in which Thailand, as the current East Asia Coordinator of FEALAC, is hosting from 19 - 22 August 2014 at Bangkok Convention Center at Central World. Thailand aims to use this meeting to moving forward cooperation between the two regions in various areas, including economic development, trade and investment, cultural cooperation and research.

FEALAC Showcase is held from 19 - 21 August 2014 to provide an opportunity for people from FEALAC countries to strengthen their mutual understanding on economic, social and cultural aspects, while exposing to Thailand’s potential and contribution to FEALAC is also greatly important. The event is presented by 24 shops and exhibition booths from 16 out of a total of 36 members comprising FEALAC countries including Argentina, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Republic of Dominican, Ecuador, El Salvador, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines and South Korea. Thailand’s exhibition booths will be presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand; Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking; Center of Latin American Studies, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University; and SEA-LAC Trade Center, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
