During 3-8 August 2014, Mr. Chalermsak Suranant, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand in Dubai (TAT Dubai), led a delegation to visit Cairo to attend Team Thailand’s Meeting and to meet  travel agencies and airlines’ executives in Egypt as well as to survey the location for holding a tourism roadshow at the end of this November or the beginning of this December, in which TAT will bring Thai businessmen in fields of tourism business, hotel, theme park, for business matching with Egyptian side as well as to promote Thai tourism. 

            Currently, there are approximately 28,000 Egyptians visit Thailand in a year. Egyptian market is increasing at a good growth rate although the number of tourists to Thailand is still low comparing to other Middle Eastern countries. Therefore, TAT Dubai aims to promote Thai tourism in Egyptian market, especially honeymooners and Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, Exhibitions businesses (MICE).

          During the visit, TAT and official of the Embassy had fruitful discussion with 4 top travel agencies and Etihad Airways in Egypt to exchange view on tourism promotion, including matters related to roadshow, tourism privileges, Thai visa, and combined trip.

          Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Peerasak Chantavarin, Ambassador of Thailand, together with TAT, had a working dinner with Captain Hisham Mostafa El Nahas, Chairman of Egypt Air to discuss ways and means to enhance cooperation between Thailand and Egypt. Captain Hisham expressed Egypt Air’s readiness to cooperate with the Thai side to promote tourism between the two countries as well as to support the roadshow.
