Evacuation of Thais from Libya

On 5 August 2014 at 13.15 hrs., the first group of 13 Thai workers evacuated from Libya arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Emirates Airlines flight EK384/TG4502.  Mr. Prasittiporn Wetprasit, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, as representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and high-level officials from the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, extended a warm welcome to the evacuees at the airport.

The  evacuees expressed their gratitude to the National Council for Peace and Order, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tripoli, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the related agencies for assistance and facilitation for the safe evacuation from Libya to Thailand.  The assistance by Thai Government agencies will be extended to the evacuated  workers after their arrival.

The second group of 23 Thais and the third group of 81 Thais will arrive in Thailand on 6 and 8 August 2014 respectively on Emirates Airlines flight EK384/TG4502 at 12.25 hrs.  A Facilitation Center for Thais in Libya located in Tunis is working to evacuate Thais from Libya and providing facilitation including transportation and shelters in Tunis for 100-150 people before their departure for Thailand.
