H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation was accompanied by Mrs. Kalayanee Sirikul, Minister (commercial affairs) and the representatives of Charoen Pokphand Food Overseas Company Limited (CPFO) to pay an official visit to Novorossiysk Sea Port City, Krasnodar and Sochi from June 16 - 19, 2014.

         This first visit to very major southern cities of Russia of the Team Thailand in Moscow was considered successful. The delegation, in particular, gained the better understanding on the potentials and opportunities to develop and further strengthen the cooperation on trade, investment and tourism with these main economic hubs of  the Russian southern region.

          The Embassy’s initiative to develop the cooperation between the Laemchabang Port of Thailand and the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port of Russia was well responded by the Russian relevant authorities and private sectors. Such development would not only reaffirm the groundwork of Thai - Russian bilateral trade, but also help intensify the volume of the Thai exportation to Russia. 

            The meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Krasnodar Region was also a good opportunity to reiterate Thailand’s strength as the major net exporter for food and agricultural products in the world market. The Thai Ambassador, in this regard, gave strong support to push towards the closer business ties between the Thai - Russian businessmen.

             Furthermore, with Sochi’s economic stand point as an international resort of Russia with its well modernized tourism infrastructure, the Thai ambassador and the Mayer of Sochi City shared their views to promote cooperation on services industry, Thai food products, Thai restaurant and hotelier business in particular.
