Deputy Consul-General in Hong Kong presided over in the religious ceremonies in marking the Asalha Puja and Buddhist Lent Ceremony

             On 13 July 2014 Ms. Benjamas Tanvetyanont, Deputy Consul-General, presided over in the religious ceremonies in marking the Asalha Puja and Buddhist Lent Ceremony along with the Thai community in Hong Kong at Wat Buddhadhamaram (Yuen Long Temple) and Wat Mekatamwanaram (Tai Wo Temple). At the ceremonies, the Deputy Consul-General also took the opportunity to greet the Thai people and provided them with the information on the Consulate-General’s consular services such as the Thai identity card issuance service which will be implemented in the near future as well as the process on registration to vote for the Thai general election in Hong Kong. In addition, Ms. Pratana Udommongkolkul, Consul, Ms. Oranit Rongwaree, Vice Consul, and the team of local staff, conducted consular services by answering enquiries and distributed voting registration forms.
              The Thai Community in Hong Kong is about 28,000 people, including 3,000 people who are working as domestic helpers. Their regular contribution and volunteer to arrange the religious ceremonies in the Thai temples in Hong Kong like cooking food, flower decorations and food giving is not only the merit-making but also the activity to strengthen the harmony among the Thai community in Hong Kong.
