Ambassador to Sri Lanka led Sri Lankan Business Group to visit Thailand

     During 1-4 July 2014, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka led a group of Sri Lankan businessmen from Hayleys Group and Mac Holdings Pvt Ltd. to visit Thailand under the Embassy’s project titled “Doing Business with Sri Lanka”. This project aims to enhance business cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka. 
     Hayleys Group is one of Sri Lanka’s biggest multinational business conglomerates. Their business comprises of fibre, hand protection, agriculture, tea, consumer products including leisure and aviation. and MAC Holdings Pvt Ltd.is a Sri Lankan company keen on transportation and logistics, fisheries and leisure. 
     In that occasion, Ambassador led the group to meet with Ms.Duangjai Asawachintachit, Deputy Secretary-General of BOI to receive a briefing of BOI and to discuss on the expansion of the existing rubber glove factory in Thailand.
     The executive of Hayleys Group for Agriculture met with executives of Jia Tai Group to discuss possibility on purchasing vegetable and flower seeds and agriculture equipment. In this connection, Jia Tai Group had shown a group of Sri Lankan businessmen its factory and laboratory. 
     While the executive of MAC Holdings Pvt. Ltd. also met with executives of Industrial Fisheries Companies in Thailand such as Prantalay, Surapol Food and Thai Union Frozen, to seek cooperation opportunities in fishery industry between Thailand and  Sri Lanka.
     In order to increase tourism cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka, the group also met with Dusit Thani Group to discuss the possibility to open the first hospitality school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ambassador also led the group to meet with CEO of Thai Smile to discuss on cooperation on tourism. 
     Moreover, the group visited Central Department Store and received a briefing from executives of Central Group on Department Store Management. They were impressed by the managerial system of the Department store. This visit will increase more contact between private sectors of the two countries and this kind of visit will be further supported or implemented by the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo continuously.
