The Royal Thai Embassy and the Federation Royale Marocaine Full, Light Semi Contact, Kick Boxing, Thai Boxing, K1, Forms Savate et Sports Assimiles, have collaborated together in a series of activities aimed at promoting the increasingly popular martial art, Muay Thai,– or Thai boxing - in Morocco.
For the third consecutive year, the Thailand Embassy organized a week long “Training for Trainers Program”. The weeklong session, held from June 7-14, 2014, enabled 200 Moroccan Thai Boxing trainers to receive expert coaching from two leading Muay Thai Trainers in Thailand, Nam Jieb and Boo SeangAthit.
The annual workshops at the MoulayRachid Sport Complex were attended by Moroccan trainers from all over the country, who happily took up the opportunity to receive intensive training aimed at teaching the fundamentals of the ancient Thai martial art, and also new Muay Thai techniques.
On June 13, despite excitement over the start of the FIFA World Cup 2014, some 4,000 people attended the thrilling Muay Thai Friendly Match between Thailand and Morocco in Kenitra. Thai Boxers have won 2 fights out of 4 fights.
On June 15, a Muay Thai Seminar was held for the general publicat Salle Ibn Yassine from 11am – 2pm. Approximately 700 Moroccan Muay Thai enthusiasts took up the opportunity to train and hone their burgeoning skills with Thailand’s World Muay Thai Champion, Boo SeangAthit.
Muay Thai is already vastly popular in Morocco, with more than 400 Clubs offering Muay Thai classes for an estimated 10,000 Thai boxers.
