Between 9 – 16 June 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima organized activities to promote Muay Thai and the training of Muay Thai in Peru in cooperation with the Peruvian Federation of Muay Thai (FPMT). The project is aimed at promoting the standard Muay Thai as well as encouraging more Peruvian people to practice Muay Thai. Besides this project supports young people to practice Muay Thai as one of their alternative hobbies.
Mr. Bunkerd Faphimai, a Muay Thai trainer who resides in San Francisco, was invited to Lima as the Project’s lecturer and trainer. The activity included the training of Muay Thai at sports complex of some districts in Lima like Surco and Jesus Maria, high level of Muay Thai training, training of Muay Thai to young people in Chorrillos as part of the social Project “ Alto Peru, which started in 2008 and so far more than 60 children have registered for the Muay Thai programme.
More than 200 people, including children, women and the youth, participated in the training organized by the Embassy and FPMT each day. The participation of the Embassy in the Alto Pero Project helps supporting young generation in the most difficult area of Peru to be healthy and shielded from the dangers and crimes of the streets. It also offered opportunity to promote more about Thailand and tourism of Thailand.
