            On 2 June 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy attended Thai Day 2014 in Poznan which was organized by Institute of Linguistics (Thai Language) at the University of Adam Mickiewicz. The opening included welcome speeches by Prof. Piotr Wierzchon, Director of Institute of Linguistics and Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Charge d’Affaires a.i. as the representative of the Embassy. The activities in Thai Day composed of presentations about Thailand, traditional Thai dances by Polish students who study Thai language, demonstration of “Wai” or the Thai way of greeting, demonstration of Thai traditional massage and followed by Thai food tasting. In this occasion, the Embassy also supported the event by organizing a painting lesson for students to learn Thai culture and language through art practices.    

            Most of the participants were lecturers and students at the University who interested in Thai culture. The University of Adam Mickiewicz is the only institution in Poland that offers Thai language studies for Bachelor Degree students. Currently, the University aims to design a course to take up further to Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
