On 6 June 2014, Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and  Mr. Pornpot Penpas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior briefed diplomatic corps based in Bangkok on the sixth Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (6^th  AMCDRR), to be held on 22-26 June 2014 at Bangkok Convention Center at Central World in Bangkok.

The Conference will be held in the framework of the United Nations to serve as a forum for governments and stakeholders in the region to reaffirm their commitment to the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015 (HFA), a global blueprint for disaster risk reduction.

The Conference also represents a final regional inter-governmental meeting in Asia before the completion of the HFA to provide regional inputs to shape the future of HFA2, the successor arrangement of the HFA to be endorsed at the 3^rd  World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, in March next year.

Thailand reiterates the invitations to affiliated countries to attend this historic conference and look forward to welcoming delegates to this meeting to share the visions on shaping the future of HFA2.
