On 21 May 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon, in collaboration with Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto, organized a Thai cooking demonstration and workshop at the school’s campus.
The special guest chef of this acitivity was Ms. Supatra da Silva, chef and owner of Supatra Thai Restaurante in Bombarral, the first Thai restaurant in Portugal which receives a number of awards and recognition in Portugal and international gastronomic society. Chef Supatra demonstrated the preparation of Thai popular dishes: Tom Yam Gai (Hot and sour chicken soup), Pad Thai Koong (Stir-fried shrimp noodle) and Kawniew Mamuang (mango sticky rice marinated with coconut cream). The demonstration and practice were attended by 25 gastronomic students who enjoyed cooking and learning how to prepare authentic Thai dishes.
After the session, the Thai dishes prepared by the students, under instruction of chef Supatra, were served for lunch at the school’s restaurant where 35 invited guests, including members of consular corps, businesspeople, hotel managers and chefs from restaurants in Porto as well as local media, enjoyed tasting the Thai dishes.
