On 23 April 2014, during the coordination and management meeting of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Dr. Viroj Sumyai, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand, has been re-elected to the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) for the period 2 March 2015-1 March 2020. He is the current member of the INCB since 2010. From the total of 18 candidates, those were also elected to the body for the same term includes the candidates nominated by the Governments of Morocco, India, Colombia and France.

INCB is an independent and quasi-judicial monitoring body for the implementation of the United Nations international drug control conventions, established by the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961. It is composed of 13 members, each elected by the Economic and Social Council for a period of five years. INCB members serve impartially in their personal capacity, independently of Governments.
