H.E. Mr. Damba Gankyuyag, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia paid a visit to Thailand between 20-23 April 2014 as Guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. His visit was made in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mongolia. Thailand is the first leg of Vice-Minister Gankyuyag's tour of Southeast Asia.

On 20 April 2014, Vice-Minister Damba Gankyuyag had a consultative meeting with Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on the state of their bilateral cooperation and followed up on the outcome of the official visit to Mongolia by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in late April 2013, as well as on regional and international issues. Both sides also discussed and jointly identified possible activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2014.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the progress and the dynamism in their bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, tourism and technical cooperation. On technical cooperation, Mongolia is a close development partner of Thailand. Thailand reaffirmed her readiness to enhance its technical cooperation with Mongolia through Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) in areas that complement the national development of Mongolia such as tourism, agriculture, and public health. On trade, both sides were satisfied with the continued rise in the trade volume from 13.69 million USD in 2012 to 15.23 million USD in 2013 and believed that there is still potential to further expand trade relations between the two countries. On investment, the Thai side looked forward to an early signing of the Agreement for Promotion and Protection Investments which should further promote investment opportunities between Thailand and Mongolia.
