On 8 April 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires participated in the seminar on “Argentina and Asia in 2030: agribusiness strategies for a developing world” at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Embassy was honoured by Assistant Professor Dr. Tanaboon Sajjaanantakul, Dean of Agro-industry Faculty, Kasetsart University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in coordinating the invitation, to give a lecture on Thailand’s capacity on food industry at the seminar. Dr. Tanaboon highlighted Thailand’s strength on the production and export of its food products which has evolved through the use of modern technology in food production and pakaging processes. Additionally, he also pointed out Thailand’s brand building and the current figures on import - export of food and raw materials between Thailand and Argentina. The lecture was much interested by the participants including representatives from the governmental sector and associations on international trade, business people, academics, and college students. The seminar was held between 7 - 9 April 2014. Lecturers were experts from local business sector in food industry as well as speakers from Thailand, China, Japan, South Korea, India and Vietnam.
On the same occasion, Ambassador Medha Promthep was also invited to deliver his remarks before the lecture of Dr. Tanaboon. The Royal Thai Embassy also provided 200 pieces of “Thong Yip”, a Thai egg yolk dessert, for the seminar’s participants to taste during the coffee break and in order to promote Thai food at the event.
