Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Mr. Eduardo Antonio Zuain, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic, co-chaired the Third Political Consultations Meeting between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Argentine Republic on 21 March 2014 in Bangkok. Both sides had a wide range of discussions on bilateral relations especially technical cooperation programmes, and collaborations in international arena. 

 

The parties took note of progress in their relations since the Second Political Consultations Meeting held in Buenos Aires in August 2013. The Meeting exchanged views on political and economic situations in Thailand and Argentina, and concurred that the situations had no effect on the ongoing cordial relationships between the two countries. 

 

The Thai and Argentine delegations discussed the cooperation in the promotion of human rights both in bilateral and international levels. The Meeting reviewed the existing bilateral agreements and agreed to push forward to conclude the pending negotiations. The two sides attach importance to South - South cooperation particularly in the fields of agriculture and public health to be materialized in the following years. The delegations exchanged views on collaborations in the multilateral platforms and on developments in respective continents. Thailand and Argentina also recognized that education, culture, sports and tourism shall be actively promoted for enhancing people-to-people relations.      

 

Both sides agreed to highlight the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Argentina in 2015 with various activities to be arranged during the upcoming year in both countries. The Fourth Political Consultations Meeting between the two countries shall be held in Buenos Aires in 2015 to commemorate the occasion and both sides will as well look forward to the exchange of high-level visits during the year.
