On Sunday 23 February 2014, The Kalyanamitta (Dhammakaya) Centre (Singapore) organized a religious ceremony to “purify” a piece of land in Sumang Walk, Punggol, which the Centre has recently acquired for the construction of its permanent premises. Phra Phrommadilok, Member of the Sangha Suprem Council of Thailand, presided over the ceremony whereas the Royal Thai Embassy was represented at the event by Mr. Nipon Petchpornprapas, Minister Counsellor, and members of Team Thailand in Singapore The Kalanamitta Cenre (Singapore) was officially registered as a Buddhist Meditation
Society in September 1999 with an aim to propagate Dhamma teaching and the meditation practice. Over the years, the Centre has been located in rented premises, causing restrictions on its activities due to limited space and facilities. With the acquisition of the piece of land, 2,000 square meters in size, and the subsequent construction of the building, which is estimated to take 2-3 years to complete, The Kalyanamitta or Dhammkaya Centre, will be able to enhance its activities with higher intake of participants.
