On 3 February 2014, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, hosted a meeting between Swedish media and ASEAN Ambassadors in Stockholm (Indonesia, Laos (Chargé d’Affaires), Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam) at his Residence.   Ms. Charlotta Ozaki Marcias, Head of the Press, Information and Communication Department, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Mr. Jesper Sunden, Foreign News Editor of Svenska Dagbladet, Mr. Ric Wasserman, Board Member of Professional Foreign Correspondence Association, attended the meeting.

     Ambassador Somchai briefed the participants on the background and development of the ASEAN, the 3 pillars of the ASEAN community, namely the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), as well as the efforts toward realizing the AEC in 2015 and the cooperation between the ASEAN and the EU.

     Moreover, the participants were briefed on the background and activities of ASEAN missions in Stockholm.  The activities included the Informal Meetings of the ASEAN Heads of Missions in Stockholm, ASEAN Food and Handicraft Day, ASEAN Family Day, ASEAN Sports Day as well as joint courtesy calls on the Swedish prominent persons and joint visits to Swedish companies/organizations. 

     The Swedish participants expressed their interest in the activities of ASEAN Missions in Stockholm and their readiness to cooperate with ASEAN Missions in promulgating ASEAN activities to the public.
