On 28 November 2013, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City and members of the Thai Community in Southern Vietnam, in association with the Ho Chi Minh City’s Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients held a donation ceremony for disadvantaged Vietnamese eye patients under the Association’s “Recover Eye Sight to Poor Blind People” Program for which the Consulate-General has continuously provided financial support since 2010.
In 2013, the Consulate – General, together with members of the Thai Community including Thai business people in Vietnam, donated fund and medicines worth VND 340 million (about USD 16,112) to the Ho Chi Minh City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients in order to support the above-mentioned programme.  With the said amount, hundreds of patients in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces will be able to regain their eyesight.
This donation ceremony stands firmly as a clear evidence of the deepening relations between Thailand and Vietnam as a result of the collaboration from many sectors – both Thai and Vietnamese- who are keen to help disadvantaged Vietnamese.
