     On 17 November 2013, Ms. Benjamas Tanvetyanont, Acting Consul-General, presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Lantern Floating Festival (Loi Krathong Festival) 2013 organised bythe Friends of Thai in Hong Kong Association at Tung Chung, Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung. The festival featured various activities, including lantern floating, the Children Noppamas Contest and the Thai Singing Contest. Participated in the event were also Ms. Palida Karkum, Vice Consul (Labour), Ms. Pratana Udommongkolkul, Consul, and Mr. Khanthong Nuanual, Consul. The festival was organized with the financial support of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong with the purpose of strengthening the unity of the Thai community. Proceeds from the event will be used as a seed fund for other useful activities. Around 300 people from both Thai and foreign communities living in Hong Kong, as well as the local people, joined the festival. This cultural event thus contributed to promote Thailand and Friends of Thailand as well.
