On 27 September 2013 H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation was a co-chair with Mr. Victor Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University to open the Thai-Muay Thai Room at the Ural Federal University. The room serves as the first Thai Centre in the Sverdlovsk Oblast and the Ural region for students and interested people to use as a source to obtain information about Thailand, its history culture and tourism, and especially history and information about Muay Thai, which is highly interested by students and people in the region.

Since 2012 The Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow has already opened 3 Thai Rooms in Russia at the St. Petersburg State University, the Lomonosov State University and the Ural State University. These rooms play a crucial role in promoting Thailand in Russia.

Moreover, at the venue on the same day, there was the signing of MOU on a cooperation between the Burapha University and the Ural Federal University with the preence of the  Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Rector of the Ural Federal University as honourary eye-witnesses.

The said activity is considered as one of the special activities that the Royal Thai Embassy andTeam Thailand in Moscow have jointly organized to promote closer ties and dialogue between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Russian Federation under the main theme of “September 2013: Spotlight on Thailand in Russia”.
