On 15 October 2013, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, launched an official opening ceremony of the project on the Thai national identity card service at the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm.  In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Somchai welcomed the project to be serviceable at the Embassy.  The project was the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior with an aim to facilitate Thai people living in Sweden in extending the validity of their Thai national identity cards or obtaining replacement cards if their cards have expired or are lost, stolen or damaged.  H.E. Ambassador Somchai also welcomed the participants to help raise public awareness of the Thai national identity card service at the Embassy among Thai community living in Sweden.

     On this occasion, some participants whose identity cards had expired had opportunities to extend the validity of their cards.
