Thai Consul-General to Chicago opens the exhibition in honour of the Late Queen Grandmother of Thailand

On 21 September 2013, Mr. Songphol Sukchan, Thai Consul-General to Chicago, addressed the opening remarks together with Mr. Gary Johnson, President of the Chicago History Museum,  in the public opening of the exhibition “Siam: The Queen and the White City”. The exhibition is being held by the Chicago History Museum, the Queen Savang Vadhana Foundation, and the Royal Thai government to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Birth of the Late Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother of Thailand.

Distinguished guests from Thailand and the U.S., including Mr. Nuttavudh Photisaro, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Narong Sasitorn, Director - General of Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs (former Consul - General to Chicago) and members of the Chicago History Museum, enjoyed the Khon performance by Thailand’s Department of Fine Arts. The exhibition will be held in the Costume and Textile Gallery until March 2014.

On this special occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate - General and the Ministry of Culture also co-organized Thai cultural performance to celebrate the 180th Anniversary of Thai-US Relations at the Royal Auditorium, Thammaram Temple, Chicago.  More than 500 guests from the Thai and local communities in Chicago attended the event.
