Thailand will host the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ (AMM) Retreat on 13-14 August 2013 in Hua-Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The Meeting will be chaired by H.E. Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. The proposal to hold AMM Retreat was made by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the 22nd ASEAN Summit in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

ASEAN Foreign Ministers will exchange views on various issues including the strengthening of ASEAN institutions to enable ASEAN to respond effectively to the fast changing global environment. The Post-2015 Vision will also be highlighted with an aim to set the future direction of the ASEAN Community after 2015 to ensure continued peace, stability, as well as sustained economic growth in the region.

In light of an upcoming Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be hosted by China on 28-30 August 2013 in Beijing to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will take the opportunity to discuss issues relating ASEAN-China relations and to advance the ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership to a higher plane, which will pave the way to the forthcoming 16th ASEAN-China Summit in October to be held in Brunei Darussalam.
