The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will organise a meeting of Thai ambassadors and consuls-general to the ASEAN region between 14 – 15 July 2013 at the Ministry and will join with the Ministry of Interior in organising a meeting of the Thai envoys with all provincial governors on 16 – 17 July at the Rama Gardens Hotel in Bangkok.

With the ASEAN Community on the horizon and relations with neighboring countries as a cornerstone of Thailand’s foreign policy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organising this event as an opportunity for Thailand’s top regional diplomats and the country’s provincial governors to consult on key regional challenges, such as development cooperation, connectivity and sustaining Thailand’s constructive role in ASEAN. Enhanced networking between Thai ambassadors/consuls-general and the provincial governors, and between the private sector and government agencies, should also result in a fine-tuning of Thailand’s policies and strategic objectives in the region. The Meeting will allow the participants to follow up on progress made during a meeting between Thai ambassadors to neighboring countries and governors from the northeastern provinces of Thailand in August 2012.

The Prime Minister will chair an official meeting between the Thai Envoys and governors the afternoon of the 16th of July to policy direction and exchange views with the participants to strengthen Thailand’s preparedness towards for ASEAN Community by 2015.
