On 27 June 2013, the representatives of the Muslim Association of Al Quran Reader of Thailand under the Patronage of Sheikhul Islam, paid a coutesy call on Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand and held a talk on the participation of Thai reciters in the 55th International Al-Quran Reciters’ Assembly on 29 June – 6 July 2013 in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand attaches importance to help promote the better understanding about Thailand among the international community, especially on freedom of religion. The participation in the international Al-Quran Competition offers an opportunity for Thai reciters to develop their skills as well as building a  network with international Muslim community.

The Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand is a well-respected organisation on Al-Quran reading which enjoys the patronage of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, the supreme spiritual leader of all Thai Muslims. The Association is recognised by the Royal Thai Government as the national specialised body in this area. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, as a representative of the Royal Thai Government, has given a support to the Association by granting funds as well as assisting in related coordination and facilitation since 2006.

Finally, Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai assures the Association of the Ministry’s continued support to this activity, and wishes the group every success in the competition.
