During 10-15 June 2013, Thai Ambassador to Myanmar led members of Team Thailand in Myanmar to survey areas along Thai-Myanmar border that have potentials to be upgraded to permanent border checkpoints. During the trip, the Ambassador and his delegation visited border areas in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Tak, Kanchanaburi and Prachuapkhirikhan, where they received briefing from local authorities. They also met and discussed with Governors of those provinces and the heads of offices concerned on the development of the border areas which gave them useful information for further cooperation with the Myanmar side in the area.

The purpose of organizing this trip is to study the areas and their potentials in trade, investment and tourism cooperation with Myanmar and to receive useful information in order to push further for the opening of more permanent border checkpoints between Thailand and Myanmar in the near future.
