On 29 April 2013, Mr. Laureano Ortega, Advisor to the President on Investment in ProNicaragua paid a courtesy call on Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs during his visit to Thailand, as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 29 April - 1 May 2013.

On this occasion, Mr. Ortega gave a brief detail on the upcoming Nicaragua Grand Canal Project, which will connect the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, and Nicaragua's investment incentives.

Both sides also discussed bilateral cooperation, including the appointment of Honorary Consuls and the agreement on Visa Exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
