     On 6-8 April 2013, Dr. Chaiyong Satjipanon, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States of America, visited Los Angeles, California, to attend the “Thai New Year Songkran” reception at the Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles and the “10th Thai New Year Songkran Festival” held in Thai Town, Hollywood Boulevard, which is the biggest annual Thai New Year celebration in the United States with more than 100,000 visitors each year.  Apart from various stalls and booths promoting Thai arts and cultures, Thai food, Muay Thai as well as Thai trade and tourism, the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board, upon the invitation of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles, organized an exhibition on royal development projects, with a view to sharing with Thais, Americans and foreigners about His Majesty’s multifarious works and dedication toward the development of Thailand and betterment of the standard of living of all Thai people. In addition, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles organized another exhibition to mark the 180th anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations, and in cooperation with the Office of Tourism Authority of Thailand in Los Angeles, held a photo exhibition titled “City of Angels: Bangkok – Los Angeles”, featuring similarities and differences between the ways of life in Bangkok and Los Angeles.  During this occasion, the Ambassador, together with high-level local representatives, presided over the opening ceremony of a pair of Kinnara street lamps – the gifts from the Royal Thai Government to celebrate the friendship between Thailand and the City of Los Angeles.
