On 10 February 2013, Dr. Chaiyong Satjipanon, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States of America, chaired a seminar titled “Fostering Science and Technological Cooperation and Research Networking ”at the Royal Thai Embassy. This seminar was jointly organized by the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of Science and Technology in Washington, D.C. The panelists included 1) Dr. Nisai Wanakul, an expert on groundwater resource model from Tampa Bay Water, who briefedthe participants about the roles of the Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC); 2) Dr. Methi Wecharatana, Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, New Jersey's Science and Technology University, who discussed the importance of the establishment of a Thailand-U.S. Science Cooperative Foundation (TUSCO) and opportunities for promoting links between Thai and U.S. research networks; and 3) Ms. Pattrawan Vechasart, Deputy Director-General, Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who gave an overview about the Ministry’s vision and plans to promote Thai-U.S. Research Networking as well as the Thai-U.S. Creative Partnershipproject.
