On 23 January 2013, the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They discussed progress in the court proceedings in the case of a Canadian tourist who was murdered in Mae Hong Son Province in 2008. The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs also conveyed his condolences to the family of two Canadians who died in Krabi Province in 2012 and informed Minister Ablonczy that the Royal Thai Government attaches great importance to the safety and well being of foreign tourists.
They also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including cooperation on consular affairs, trade and investment promotion and exploratory talks on a Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and Canada.
