On 14 December 2011, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul delivered a statement at the opening ceremony of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) at the Intercontinental Bangkok Hotel. Organized by the Thai News Agency, MCOT Public Company Limited, the event was attended by over 50 OANA delegates and observers from various news agencies in the Asia-Pacific region as well as high-level representatives from UNESCO and the diplomatic corps.
