On 28 January 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, as the Representative of His Majesty the King, presided over the 34th Prince Mahidol Awards (PMA) of the year 2025 at the Chakri Throne Hall and hosted a dinner in honor of the laureates at the Boromrajasathitmaholarn Hall.

The Ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister and Cabinet Members, President and Members of the Privy Council, Dean and members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassadors of nominating countries, as well as the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation Board of Trustees.

The 2025 PMA recipients are as follow:

In the field of Medicine: Doctor Terry Dean King, M.D., from the U.S., was awarded the prize for his outstanding achievements in the development of medical innovations and for his contributions to improving the quality of life of patients with congenital heart defects worldwide through the advancement of minimally invasive treatment technologies, which have benefited the health and well-being of hundreds of millions of people around the world.

In the field of Public Health: Professor Doctor Walter C. Willett, M.D., M.P.H., Dr.P.H., from the U.S., was awarded the prize for his pioneering research in the field of nutrition, which has had a profound impact on global public health promotion and on the formulation of preventive public health policies, thereby benefiting the health and well-being of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Established in honor of HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla as “The Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of Thailand," the PMA has been annually recognizing individual(s) or institution(s) with outstanding and exemplary contributions to the advancement of international medical and public health services since 2002. Each Award consists of a medal, a certificate, and a prize to the sum of 100,000 USD.
