On 20 November 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, co-chaired the 2nd Thailand - Ireland Bilateral Consultations with Mr. Colm Hayes, Director General, Global & Economic Division and Asia-Pacific, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland.

Both sides welcomed the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which has been commemorated throughout the year with various celebratory activities. They reviewed progress and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in key areas, such as trade and investment, digital technology, education and human resource development, while also exploring new areas of collaboration including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, cyber security and the suppression of online scams. The Irish side expressed its support for the Thailand - EU Free Trade Agreement. Both sides also exchanged views on human rights issues, regional developments and other global matters.

Ireland remains an important partner for Thailand in education and human resource development. In 2025, Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) and the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding with University College Dublin (UCD), one of Ireland’s top-ranked universities and the world’s leading institutions, to promote cooperation in scientific and innovative human resource development, which will make an important contribution to building a skilled workforce to support Thailand’s future industries.
