Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency attended the 2023 Busan Global Partnership Forum

On 5 – 6 December 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attended the 2023 Busan Global Partnership Forum under the theme of “Delivering Better Together for Sustainable Development: Leveraging Effective Development Cooperation” in Seoul, South Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
 
This forum aims at facilitating discussions, among stakeholders, such as high-level representatives from public sector, private sector, civil society, scholars as well as from development cooperation agencies and financial institutions, who contribute to the implementation of development cooperation in various aspects, including the initiative of development cooperation that is effective and responsive to current global challenges, the roles of civil society and private sector in international development cooperation, and the strengthening of South-South Cooperation. The forum aims to forge a strong partnership for cooperation. It also serves as a venue for all participants to exchange their experiences and knowledge in improving development cooperation policies and practices, with a view to realising the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
 
In this occasion, Mrs. Ureerat also met with Mr. Oscar Fernández-Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General for Development Coordination, United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO), during which Mr. Fernández-Taranco expressed his appreciation to TICA’s continuous work on the implementation development cooperation projects, especially with the UN and under the South-South framework. Moreover, both sides also exchanged information on the overview of their respective development cooperation initiatives. On this note, Thailand expressed its readiness in sharing the country’s expertise and experience in the implementation of development cooperation projects in various areas and would welcome UNDCO’s interests in applying Thailand’s good practices when giving assistance to other countries.
