On 14 July 2020, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand held a discussion with H.E. Mr. Furkat Sidikov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, via a video conference and discussed bilateral cooperation, multilateral cooperation under the United Nations as well as the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
 
Vice Minister Vijavat congratulated the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on his appointment in May 2020. Both sides discussed ways and means to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas such as trade, tourism, education, the possibility of organising the 2nd Meeting of Thailand-Uzbekistan Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC), multilateral cooperation under the United Nations as well as exchange of experiences in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Thailand and Uzbekistan have enjoyed cordial ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992 and Thailand is a preferred destination for many Uzbekistan tourists.
