On 17 June 2020, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador-designate of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Ms. Frances Adamson, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Commonwealth of Australia. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen Thai-Australian relations and enhance cooperation between the two countries in the areas of mutual interests.
 
In addition, Ambassador Busadee took the opportunity to thank the Australian Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and all the relevant agencies, including the Department of Education and the Australia Border Force (ABF), for their assistance and cooperation extended  to the Thai community and Thai students in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as facilitation arrangements of repatriation flights to bring Thai nationals home during April – June 2020.
