The Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington has successfully repatriated 168 Thai nationals, who found themselves stranded in New Zealand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A special repatriation flight operated by Thai Airways International transported the Thai nationals, 88 of whom are minors who had come to study in New Zealand, back to Thailand on 27 April 2020.

The Royal Thai Embassy would like to take this opportunity to recognize the support and cooperation rendered by all government and private agencies involved to ensure the success of this important operation, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, the Ministry of Education, and Education New Zealand.

Thai education agencies and the Thai communities in New Zealand have also played a vital role in this operation. They have worked closely with the Royal Thai Embassy to ensure the welfare of the Thai Nationals stranded in New Zealand, and provided much appreciated essential cooperation with the repatriation process.
